Custom Stilts
I build custom Stilts at an amazing price point. You supply the shoes and the specifications; Hight of the stilt, hight from sole to just below the knee, shoe size, age, and I will build you stilts that are perfectly suited to your child or yourself.
I use a material called Port Orford Cedar which was traditionally used for boat masts and spars. The reasoning is that the Port Orford Cedar tree grows very tall and straight. It is also an amazingly light wood species. Finally it has the capacity to bend and absorb shock from gusts of wind. All these qualities make it an ideal wood species for wooden stilts. The platforms for the shoes and the side planks are made from high quality Baltic Birch. This material is ideal because it is a solid core plywood that has exceptional structural stability. This stability is needed in both these locations. The feet are tied into the shoes and then the strap is velcroed tightly around the upper calf. This is how circus performers have built stilts for hundreds of years. It is the real deal. It takes care, practice and lots of attention from parents for children to get good at using them. But once they do it is pretty amazing to watch. One set of Stilts is $250 |

Construction
Discounts are available for orders of 5 or more stilts but they are still constructed the same way; by hand in Santa Cruz. I also provide a 3 year warranty on the stilts. If anything happens to them, I will rebuild them or supply new ones for free.

My Son Everett
My children went to a circus arts school. I learned how to build the stilts from a gentleman who has been a circus performer most of his life. He teaches children at the school. Circus Arts is one of the many classes on the curriculum. He has taught stilt walking for close to 35 years and has spent as many years building his own stilts.
